Volunteer Programs

It’s easy to get involved and make a difference at The Compass Center.

Please call today at 339-0116 or 1-877-IN-CRISIS and let us know how you can help. Any contribution of your time and talents, no matter how large or small, is greatly appreciated.

Why Volunteer?

  • Sexual assault and domestic violence happens more than our society would like to believe. Approximately one in three females and one in six males will be sexually assaulted in their lifetime. An average of 23 people are raped each hour in our country.
  • These acts of violence don’t only affect adults. An estimated 3.3 million children witness domestic violence each year, and every 7 hours a child dies from abuse. It is an issue that affects the entire family.
  • Your helping hands can make a difference in someone’s life. By offering your support, victims can become survivors.

Sexual Assault Response Team Volunteers

The Sexual Assault Response Team assists victims of sexual assault in the hospital ER, through the 24-hour confidential crisis line, or at the police station. On call times include weeknights, weekends, and holidays. Training is required and provided. This volunteer position can sometimes seem very intimidating. However, the rewards are very special.

Court Watcher Program Volunteers

The purpose of the Court Watcher Program is to support victims of sexual and/or domestic assault through the court system. It also is an opportunity to learn about the criminal justice system, to watch criminal and civil cases in court, to monitor cases through the media, and to promote public awareness of the court system. The focus of Court Watchers is primarily on cases involving sexual assault and/or domestic violence. Training is provided.

Office Volunteers

Help with mailings, assist in general office activities, and help with special events.
